Condition Based Monitoring (CBM)

Condition-Based Monitoring or Condition-Based Maintenance as it is sometimes known consists of a number of well established inspection tasks carried out using some form of objective measuring instrument.

The rationale of CBM is to carry out performance measurement tasks while the asset is still in use and using the minimum of intrusiveness. This methodology achieves the following outcomes:

CBM is most cost-effectively delivered once the maintenance requirements have been properly understood through an RCM process although quick fixes are often possible on simple pieces of equipment.

Sim Energy consultants have been involved in implementing various CBM technologies and maintenance programmes and have used these for:

Through implementation of CBM we have achieved up to 75% reductions in maintenance resource requirements and seen CBM equipment pay for itself within 3 months.
